Product Description

The Rogue Thompson Fatbell was co-developed with powerlifting legend Donnie Thompson as a revolutionary new take on the traditional kettlebell. With this design, we’ve made the simple but significant change of re-positioning the handle inside of the bell—set dead center and straight across like a dumbbell handle within an open-ended, cast-iron sphere. The result, as Donnie explains it himself, is a “perfect geometric shape for maximizing optimal performance,” as your hand and the bell essentially act as one. The center mass design allows athletes to improve the efficiency and balance of every swing/press while also reducing common kettlebell safety risks.

Rogue Thompson Fatbells

With your hand inside the sphere, “every single infinitesimal point on the surface of that sphere is equal distance to the center of your hand.” This dynamic reduces the shearing force on joints and adds more load distribution on muscle and connective tissue.

Rogue Thompson Fatbells are available in many different weight increments and include Rogue’s signature black powder coat finish. The 9LB, 13LB, and 18LB Fatbell feature an additional, second opening on the underside of the sphere for athletes with smaller hands.

Note: *Due to the casting process, cast products may have minor variances in the finish.

A Donnie Thompson Innovation
1

A Donnie Thompson Innovation

For Donnie Thompson, decades of experience as both a champion powerlifter and world renowned trainer went into conceptualizing this new breed of kettlebell. Since his first sketch of a spheroid bell with an internal handle back in 2006, the blueprint was refined and perfected into its current dynamic form. If it meets Donnie’s standards, it’s up to just about anybody’s.

A “Perfect Geometric Shape”
2

A “Perfect Geometric Shape”

The center mass design of the Fatbell allows athletes to improve the efficiency and balance of every swing/press while also reducing common kettlebell safety risks. As Donnie Thompson puts it, this is the “perfect geometric shape for maximizing optimal performance,” as your hand and the bell essentially act as one. “Every single infinitesimal point on the surface of that sphere is equal distance to the center of your hand.” This dynamic reduces the shearing force on joints and adds more load distribution on muscle and connective tissue.

Quality Construction

Quality Construction

Thompson Fatbells feature a solid, cast-iron construction with a black powdercoat finish and a grip-friendly ergo handle. The exterior design includes both Rogue and Thompson branding, as well as a color-coded stripe around the opening for quick recognition. All bells 26LB and up have a flat machined base, while the 9LB, 13LB, and 18LB bells are opened-ended on both the top and bottom, providing an alternative option for athletes with smaller hands.

Wide Range of Sizes

Wide Range of Sizes

Whether you want to order a couple sets of Fatbells for your home gym or equip a larger facility with a full arsenal, there is no shortage of options [see the size chart below or within the order menu]. Bear in mind that along with the diameter of the bell itself, the diameter of the internal Ergo Handle also changes depending on the weight of the Fatbell:
9LB - 18LB Bells = 32MM diameter handle
26LB - 88LB Bells = 37MM diameter handle
97+LB Bells = 40MM diameter handle

Variety of Applications

Variety of Applications

As a hybrid of sorts between a traditional kettlebell and dumbbell, there are countless ways to utilize Thompson Fatbells and incorporate them into your routine; from presses, swings, and lunges to snatches, cleans, rows, and more.

One Caveat
These things are great. But, they could be perfect, if: 1. the handles were knurled; 2. the handles were straight, not convex. If you like the double kettlebell front squat, then you will find the double fat bell front squat to be perfect. I only deadlift now with a barbell because of space / rack limitations, so a heavy double front squat is the way to go. These allow for you to really create a center of mass by squeezing them together under your chin / on top of your chest.

Category of it’s own - incredibly balanced
The feel/balance between is incredible. Truthfully- I was on the fence about this purchase because of the shipping costs to CA. So I started with 5 Fatbells of different sizes (singles) and I am so glad that I did.

Unique and very versatile
Wish I got a heavier set. I love them and they are very fast to integrate into my current regiment. I find they are very nice to control and I really enjoy their ergonomics. Regretting not getting a heavier set but not at all upset about the purchase. Shipping was surprisingly easy and no issue at all. Showed up less than a week later. Get em if you have been wondering. They are weights and they do what they should. Maybe a little better then just dumb bells

Fat Bell for the Win!
Absolutely top quality product and service! These fat bells hit muscle groups that KB’s and DB’s don’t necessarily impact. I love the addition to my home gym!

The Perfect Clean and Press I always wanted
Since tearing my pec my main upper body work revolves around pressing. I love kettlebells and have beautiful irongrip dumbells but fatbells are superior...they have better ROM than dumbells and a perfect "bar path" shoulders have never been bigger and stronger. The clean from a dead stop will carry over to other lifts better than kettlebells. Watch Brian Shaws videos. My dumbells are gathering dust

Fatbells are good not 100% great.
Awesome feel and range of motion. I was worried that the opening to the fatbell would be too small but there is plenty of room to insert your hand. The only knock which is minor is that there is no knurling on the handle so if you get too sweaty you could slip.

Shows how big the opening.
This shows the lack of knurling.
Another view of the opening.
