ROGUE USA OLYMPIC Change PLATEs

us-made cast iron change plates

Rogue USA Olympic Change Plates provide a durable, American-made solution for precise weight increases on any Olympic barbell. Produced through partnerships with two long-standing Midwest foundries, these cast iron plates combine classic gym feel with refined machining and a durable E-Coat finish. Available in increments up to 10LB, they allow lifters to make controlled progress while maintaining the look and performance of a traditional cast iron plate setup.

MADE IN THE USA

As part of Rogue’s effort to bring cast iron plate manufacturing back to the United States, these change plates are produced in collaboration with experienced American foundries. Plates 10LB and above are cast from ductile iron by Cadillac Casting in Cadillac, Michigan, while the smaller increments are produced at OSCO Industries in Portsmouth, Ohio using Class 30 Grey Iron. This approach combines excellent strength, corrosion resistance, and consistent casting quality.

PRECISION MACHINED FOR A SECURE FIT

Each Rogue USA Olympic Change Plate features a 4-surface precision machining process that helps ensure a consistent diameter, a snug fit on Olympic barbell sleeves, and a flush surface when loaded alongside other plates. This attention to detail improves bar stability and helps maintain a clean, organized stack during training.

DURABLE E-COAT FINISH

All Rogue USA Olympic Plates are finished with an electrically applied E-Coat that provides a tough, corrosion-resistant surface while preserving the texture and character of the casting. The thinner coating maintains crisp detail in the raised Rogue branding, weight indicators, and “Made in the USA” lettering while delivering long-term durability in demanding training environments.

Note: *Due to the casting process, cast products may have minor variances in the finish.

KEY FEATURES OF THE ROGUE USA OLYMPIC PLATES

CAST IN MICHIGAN BY CADILLAC CASTING

The town of Cadillac, Michigan has a long and storied manufacturing history, and Cadillac Casting, Inc., has been a big part of it, designing and producing a wide variety of complex and safety-critical components for the automotive industry and other industrial clients since the 1920s. This reputable, privately owned foundry employs 400 highly skilled workers, and they seamlessly took on the job of producing our USA Olympic Plates (10LB and up) along with many of our new Deep Dish Plates and Kettlebells. Cadillac uses Ductile Iron, aka nodular cast iron, which contains strong graphite nodules that give it a superior tensile strength and corrosion resistance well suited to automotive components, wheels, gearboxes, machine frames, and, as no exception, weightlifting plates.

CHANGE PLATES CAST IN OHIO BY OSCO INDUSTRIES

OSCO Industries has operated foundries in South-Central Ohio for nearly 150 years. Serving a wide variety of industrial markets from air conditioning and refrigeration to automotive, power-transmission equipment, and pumps & valves, the team at OSCO have also been integral in our efforts to bring cast iron equipment manufacturing back to the US. They currently produce all of our small USA Olympic Change Plates (0.25LB, 0.5LB, 1LB, 2.5LB, and 5LB) using Class 30 Grey Iron. This is the same highly durable cast iron often found in industrial strength frying pans, manhole covers, diesel engine blocks, gearboxes, and machine tool parts.

PRECISION MACHINING

Each Rogue USA Olympic Plates features precision machining on the back of the plate, the center hub, the outside rim, and the front facing of that rim. This unique 4-surface machining process ensures that the plates fit tightly on the bar, are uniform in diameter, and sit flush against each other when loaded. The chamfered center hub also makes it easy to get the plates onto the bar, with the machining ensuring a snug but not overly tight fit.

FINE DETAILING + E-COAT FINISH

The casting expertise of Cadillac and OSCO gives each plate crisp detailing and a clear separation between the embossed Rogue branding, weight indications, and “Made in the USA” lettering. The look is then completed with an E-Coat finish, an electrically-applied paint coating that was initially developed for the automotive industry due to its excellent adhesion, even coverage, and corrosion resistance. As a wet application, E-coat goes on thinner than a powder coat finish, resulting in a smooth feel that retains more of the natural grit of the casting.
