The TacTec® Trainer Weight Vest from 5.11 is constructed from durable 600D polyester with breathable mesh body pads and shoulder strap padding. The versatile and compact carrier (13" H x 10" W x 1" D) is compatible with 5.11’s line of weight plates, as well as the TacTec® Weight Plate Sandbag and Rogue’s standard, USA Cast, and Echo vest plates (they are NOT designed for use with GORUCK plates).
An adjustable stretch cummerbund is included in this design to keep the vest secure as you train, while the internal retention straps do the same for the weight plates. There are convenient stash pockets for your accessories, a top admin front pocket with a hook-and loop closure and pull tab, and laser-cut and web MOLLE platforms that offer additional carrying capacity and pouch customization. Athletes can also personalize their TacTec Trainer Vest using the included ID loop and 6x1 name tape.
Important: The 5.11 Tactical Vest is intended strictly as a fitness accessory and should NEVER be used as body armor.

With the TacTec Trainer Weight Vest, 5.11 has created another uniquely lightweight (0.92kg) and compact (13"H x 10"W x 1"D) plate carrier, capable of holding both medium and large ballistic plates, front and back. The vest is made from durable 600D polyester, and features internal plate retention straps, an adjustable stretch cummerbund with pockets, and front and rear MOLLE platforms. Breathable mesh in the body pads and adjustable yoke shoulder strap padding ensure optimal comfort throughout your training regimen.

While the TacTec Vest works with 5.11’s own line of weight plates and its Weight Plate Sandbag, the carrier also conveniently supports all Rogue weight plates, including the standard, USA Cast, and Echo options, which customers can add to their order from the purchase area.

Fits small me
I was worried it wouldn’t fit my petite 115lb self but it does fit just fine! At 50 I am on a mission to build as much muscle as possible after seeing both of my now deceased parents decline significantly when sarcopenia set in. This build while I can mode meant I needed to give up running. Wearing this vest keeps me from being tempted to run and gives me a good workout when on early morning walk. Though I do west my husbands jacket over it. I get a lot of weird looks. “Don’t weaken” patch couldn’t be anymore fitting for my goal.
I use a binder clip to keep the Velcro lifted in the “opened” position so I don’t wake my husband and I take the best off before I come back inside. It’s loud! But it holds superbly.

5.11 TacTec Trainer
Not a CrossFit guy - just a 55 year old guy trying to find new ways to stay fit now that I have a bad knee. Bought this to use on long walks, stopping every 0.25 or 0.5 mile to do pushups. It was so comfortable that I decided to jog in it about once a week for up to six miles while continuing the push up thing during the job. Probably the best workout I do. Looked at the upgrade version of this tech vest but the reviews said this was better for working out; I would agree. I bought the 8.75 lb laser cut weights; you could add another layer for more weight although it was a tight fit in the compartment when I did it. Great product, very happy with it.

Wear my plate carrier vest all the time!
I bought the 5.11 TacTec vest for the Murph but I wear it walking the dogs every day. Lots of Velcro for a snug and comfortable fit. Plus it gets a lot of looks from the neighbors!

The best plate carrier
The best fitting plate carrier very sleek and versatile. Also the unique design with side pockets for convenience wow nothing so minimal and resourceful on the market. I considered the original CROSSFIT model that is so popular since the games OVERHYPED this ones it. From long runs sprint to long rucks with a weighted pack!!!!!
