The resistance of a barbell to oxidation depends on the type of steel and the coating. Barbells at the lower end of the spectrum will require more care and maintenance to preserve their appearance than barbells at the upper end of the spectrum.

The F Scale™ is a durability scale for barbells based on functional testing at stresses similar to what barbells experience when being dropped from overhead. How a barbell is used will affect its durable lifespan and it's a key factor in determining what type of F Rating™ might be suitable for your gym's needs. This graph correlates the F Rating™ of a barbell with different types of usage in order to predict the durable lifespan. Using this data, we are able to make recommendations on what F Rating™ is appropriate for different training situations. With a rating of F8-R, the Ohio Bar is rated to last 16 years in a high volume CrossFit gym and will outlast a lifetime of lifting in an Olympic Weightlifting gym, a home gym or a Powerlifting gym.

NEUE UND STRENGERE TOLERANZGRENZEN
Every connection in the 20KG Ohio Bar now has tightened tolerances measuring in the thousandths of an inch. Using advanced optical profilometry as well as custom electronic gauging, we can produce a multipurpose bar that consistently meets our exacting standards. This applies to the knurl and the sleeve profile, as well as the features in the shaft and sleeves that enable a perfect fit during assembly. The result is less axial and radial float of the sleeves (i.e. enhanced stability), significant noise reduction, and a more solid feel throughout the lift.
ENDBEARBEITUNG UND BESCHICHTUNG
Each Ohio Bar finish offers a different level of oxidation protection and has a direct effect on the feel of the knurl. Black zinc is a tried and true coating for barbells, offering resistance to corrosion while being thin enough to not take away from the feel of the knurl.
