Rogue Ohio Power Bar - Cerakote

Our 29MM Ohio Power Bar is now available in a Cerakote shaft finish, with a range of exclusive colorways to choose from. This unique polymer-ceramic composite coating was originally popularized in the gun industry for its durability in thin applications, and it offers up to 100x the corrosion resistance of standard black zinc.

Aside from the finish, the Cerakote Ohio Power Bar is manufactured to the same general specifications as the original model, combining a 205,000 PSI, zero-flex steel shaft with quality bronze bushings and a snap ring design for a smooth, consistent spin. The bar features single powerlifting knurl marks and center knurling, machined in a pattern that’s deep and coarse without being sharp or abrasive. This makes the Ohio Power Bar a perfectly honed workhorse for the bench, squat, and deadlift.

The 45LB Cerakote Ohio Power Bar is machined and assembled in Columbus, Ohio, USA. All colorways feature our new Proprietary Matte Black sleeves, finished through a process that effectively transforms the surface of the steel rather than coating it, greatly increasing the sleeves’ long-term corrosion resistance and color endurance.

Lifetime Warranty

The Ohio Power Bar’s quality construction is backed by Rogue’s Lifetime Warranty against bending. This is a barbell equipped for high intensity, everyday use. Please Note: The warranty does not cover damage due to negligent or faulty use, alteration, maintenance, storage or handling by the user, i.e., dropping the bar on a box, bench, spotter arms or pins in a power rack, excessive dropping with insufficient or damaged bumpers, or excessive dropping with iron plates, and similar usage. Any specific issues regarding a Rogue product with which a customer is not satisfied will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

F SCALE™

The F Scale™ is a durability scale for barbells based on functional testing at stresses similar to what barbells experience when being dropped from overhead. Bars that have been treated with Rogue Work Hardening (RWH™) are designated by having an R in their F Rating™. For more information on F Scale™ click here.

OXIDATION RATE

The resistance of a barbell to oxidation depends on the type of steel and the coating. Barbells at the lower end of the spectrum will require more care and maintenance to preserve their appearance than barbells at the upper end of the spectrum.

*Warranty against bending does not cover any bar which has been damaged due to negligent or faulty use, alteration, maintenance, storage or handling by the user. Negligent or faulty use includes abusive dropping of the bar (i.e., dropping the bar on a box, bench, spotter arms or pins in a power rack, excessive dropping with insufficient or damaged bumpers, or excessive dropping with iron plates, and similar usage). Any specific issues regarding a Rogue product with which a customer is not satisfied will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. We have found that most problems with bars we replace are related to abusive use rather than manufacturing or materials issues.

Please Note: Cerakote has an excellent resistance to corrosion, but metal-to-metal contact, particular on the sleeves, can still cause wear over time. For the best long term results, some cleaning and maintenance may be required. See our Ohio Bar Care Page for more info.

Coating isn’t great. Customer service is worse.
Bought this bar a few months ago due to reviews saying the cerakote coating was corrosion resistant. After minimal use and storage in my finished basement gym, I’m noticing rust and there is a chip on the end that must have been there when it was delivered and I just didn’t notice. Contacted customer service and they said it was normal wear and tear. Figured they would stand by their product but I was mistaken. I should’ve spent more upfront and got the stainless version because now I’m stuck with a bar that will continue to rust.

I understand the draw to cerakote coating…
If I could do it again, I would have one with stainless or black zinc. Unfortunately the Cerakote dulls the knurl quite a bit. I have a raw OPB that I love, but the maintenance is almost too much. Posted are the knurl comparison to my raw OPB and Cerakote. Still a good bar, but the knurl leaves quite a bit to be desired.

Good bar but sleeves too thick
Not sure if the bar is supposed to be a little thicker on the sleeves but compared to my Ohio Bar all my bumper plates scrape and have to be maneuvered to be put on instead of just sliding on easily compared to Ohio Bar. Other than that good bar.

Sleeves a little thicker than Ohio bar so bumper plate scrapes when putting on

Thank you for posting! Our Proprietary Matte Black metal treatment process also hardens the steel, which can cause some additional friction with plates that have a chamfer. These sleeves should be able to be wiped down with no issue. Our team is reaching out now to confirm.

Ohio Power Bar
It came down to a decision. Was looking at the Texas equipment, but I’ve used multiple rogue bars. Was looking for a great all around power bar for general training, and for the price/quality Rogue is head and shoulders above everyone on a power bar. I love it. Wouldn’t trade it.

Solid bar but too many metal shavings
I just received the stainless steel bar with stainless sleeves, and while the product is rock solid, I'm really disappointed to find lots and lots of tiny metal shavings throughout the knurled sections. I've tried wiping and cleaning and vacuuming the bar, but no luck. Every time I use it I have tiny metal shavings from (I'm guessing) the machining that produces the knurl. Why did I pay over $500(!) (incl. tax and shipping) for a bar that leaves metal on my hands and makes me wonder how many places in my gym I've spread those small pieces? Every bar should be cleaned and inspected thoroughly before shipping. Don't rush quality - I'd rather wait another day or two.

A nice barbell
I’ve never purchased a barbell before but the quality surpasses anything I’ve ever picked up in a commercial gym. The knurling is top notch and quite aggressive which I prefer. The bar has been dropped dragged and beaten and still performs. Quality
