Product Description

Machine calibrated for next-level precision, these durable cast-iron LB plates are accurate to within 10 grams in weight. Each disc is cut thin to allow for max loading capacity (up to 1500+LB) and color-coded for easy identification from a distance. The back of each plate includes calibration plugs (lead on smaller plates, brass on plates 5LB and up) for an ever greater level of precision. A 50.4MM center hole is designed for a snug fit on a standard barbell, and as a result, may not fit on some cheaper barbells not held to spec.

Great with big exception
First off, I love these plates. The thinness, the look, and the feel are all amazing. BUT there are some glaring issues. I’ve spent over 6k from Rogue alone outfitting my gym and I have to say this is the first order I’m disappointed in. First off, almost every plate has slight chipping or damage when they came in. Even the 10lb plates had spots. I understand they are plates, but if any damage is done, I’d like to be the reason. Then, very first use, paint transfers easily onto your barbell sleeve or weight horn on EVERY weight size with color paint. Thankfully it wiped off bar easily but not the weight horn. Still, plates lose paint way too easily. I know they want to keep these thin, but a better, more reliable coating should be used. In fact, the plates should all be chrome finished like the 2.5lb and lower are. That would be a sick set. My gripe is that for the expense of these plates plus expense of shipping, they should come in better condition and not wear so fast. Aside from those issues, great plates.

Excited, except….
Let me first state that I love Rogue! I own many different pieces of Rogue equipment from the Rhino Belt squat to the Rogue squat bar. Every piece of equipment I’ve received from them have been in top condition. So when I received my 25 kg plates I was a bit disappointed. As stated below by many of the other reviews, I received my plates today taking advantage of the reduced shipping due to their Black Friday deals. I understand that they are trying to fill orders as fast as possible but when I received my order two of the plates had damage. Aside from paint blemishes and the paint rubbing off on my brand new Kabuki Deadlift bar (second picture), I was disappointed to see a chuck of metal missing from one of my plates. I also received one of my plates not in packaging. I’m not sure if that was on UPS but for the price I paid I was hoping for all my plates to be packaged with care. Anyways this will not dissuade be from buying from Rogue in the future but for the money I’m spending I expect nothing but the best.

Disappointed in steel plates
I have purchased a lot of Rogue equipment in the last month and most of it has exceeded expectations. However, these plates are a disappointment. As others have stated, the finish on the plates is the biggest issue with minor dings in several plates to major blemishes across the back side of a 35 lb plate. The finish on the inside of the plates smeared off on every one of my Rogue plate holders as well. For weightlifting, the plates are fine, but the finish on the weight is not worth the premium price paid. I should have bought the deep dish plates, or bought more HG bumper plates. The HG bumper plates are awesome and definitely worth the money.

Plate came damaged
Let me start out by saying I’m a huge fan of Rogue and hold their equipment to a really high standard. I recently made a decent sized order and for the most part every thing came in great with the exception of minor scratches on the rack which doesn’t bother me. However one of the 25kg plates I ordered had a little chunk of the number “5” missing. Not the biggest deal, it still basically weighs the same, but I would have hoped all the plates at least came identical and with no deformities this noticeable. I still believe that this is just a rare mishap and doesn’t represent Rogue’s quality.

Over the top change plates
I purchased the 0.25, 0.5, 1, and 2.5lb plates to use as change plates for my bumpers. Pairing these with the magnetic aluminum collars is something I wish more people talked about before I discovered it. They really just stick to the outside of the collar for the entire lift without dragging on the sleeve. These plates are beautiful out of the box and my only complaint is that the 5lb doesn’t also come I the polished finish to complete the full set of what I would consider change plates. My old Weiders look like they’ve seen better days by comparison. Easily the most I’ve spent per pound for plates but absolutely worth it.

Best Plates on the Market
I replaced the plates that I purchased during the pandemic with the Rogue calibrated steel plates. I wanted to purchase these plates first but the sticker cost was too much. Gradually I’ve been replacing my pandemic gym equipment with Rogue. There was no damage when the plates arrived. Some of the paint will come off when placing it on the bar but its minimum. I love the colors and wouldn’t of expected anything less from Rogue.
