Rogue RML-490 Power Rack

Starting with the same Westside-inspired design as the popular Rogue R-4 Power Rack, the RML-490 utilizes 3x3” 11-gauge steel uprights—making it among the strongest and sturdiest power racks in the industry. Built in Columbus, Ohio, this highly customizable Monster Lite rack is equipped to serve professional strength training facilities, collegiate weight rooms, military training bases, and small garage gyms, alike.

The RML-490 includes Westside hole spacing, 5/8” hardware, and a set each of Monster Lite J-cups, pin/pipe safeties, and band pegs. Both a 43” Fat/Skinny Pull-Up and 43” Single Skinny Pull-Up Bar also come standard.

With just a 53” x 53” standard footprint, the RML-490 Power Rack is a compact unit well suited to custom additions. Popular accessories include the Monster Lite Matador, Monster Lite Safety Spotter Arms, and Long Plate Storage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SOLID! I bought this rack a little over two months ago and got the red. Its a solid rack. I bought the stabilizer bar because I didn't want to bolt it to the floor of my chiropractic office but it is not needed. Even without the stabilizer bar the rack doesn't move or wiggle. It sits in the corner of the room. I knew the rack wasnt quite tall enough for me to do pullups without touching the floor so I added the multigrip crossmember and it added just the amount of height I needed. The only complaints I have are minor and do not change my thoughts about the rack from 5 stars. First, when my boxes arrived they looked like that had been through a war zone. The ends of the boxes were torn and open to where the uprights of my rack were showing and I immediately could tell paint was missing from each leg. There is no padding in with these 90" heavy metal uprights, they are just put in a boxes in pairs. Thats a lot of weight for a UPS guy to carry. I watched the guy drag them from the truck into my office. So this happened at every place from ohio to nebraska. When i contacted rogue the customer service was amazing as always. Showed them the pictures of the boxed and told them packing needs to be better and they said they would immediately send me new uprights and pack them better. Slight problem... packing was the same and the new boxes were actually in worse shape than the original. Rogue being rogue made it right with me and I just picked the 4 least damaged. Customer service is top notch. The next slight drawback is the custom ordered color paint just seems softer. Easier to scratch and ding but once again this is minor. I dont know anyone else that has a rogue rack so I cant say if all colors are this way or not. I got the rack to use. Damage will occur. None of this has changed my opinion at all. This is a great rack.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this thing This rack is rock solid. I've had it for over a year now and it's great. Very sturdy never moves around without bolting it down. I have it on a deadlift platform and love it. If I could do it different I would have gotten the larger size.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Rack but possibly another option This is a solid and wonderful rack. Very stable, easy to put together and small footprint for the gym. I only wish I knew one thing ahead of it. I am 6'2" and the height of the pull-up bar is a just barely high enough. The Froning version of this adds 10 inches so if you have the room get that. So I am already likely in need of the extension for the uprights to make it work better. Unfortunate as I will spend more in total. Plus I have a set of Safety Pins I won't use. To hard to really use and adjust quickly so I will buy the straps that come standard with the froning rack. And it isn't easy enough to just swap out for a different model. But if these are not a concern you will not do wrong with the purchase of this rack.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome! Quality product all around. The investment has been well worth cancelling my gym membership - no more gym commute, no crowds, no sweaty benches, and now I workout whenever I want. I've used it a few weeks; planned to wait longer prior to reviewing but don't see any issues down the road. Stablizer: I don't know if it is required because I've never gone without it. It doesn't get in the way of my AB-2 bench when benching but it is tight - the bench slides right up against it. It only gets in the way with seated military press - I have to use the outside of the front uprights instead of inside the rack. Can also see it getting in the way of the rear pull up bar but the front bar is still available. Rack moves minimally when trying to shake it or using the matador; suggest using the matador with the handles facing parallel between two uprights, not outside the rack. West side hole spacing and numbers missing from the holes is annoying. If I had to do it again I might consider the Monster version. Decided against it when I bought because the numbers and hole spacing combined with the higher cost of accessories weren't worth the extra $500. Plan to use a silver sharpie to mark my positions as I get to know the rack better. I deadlift inside the rack and there is only half an inch clearance between the two bottom crossmembers and my barbell. Not a problem so far, I haven't had the barbell touch but something to consider if you're going to be dropping barbells from heights inside the rack. Recommend adding a second set of Jcups and the safety strap upgrade.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Room for Improvement First off, this has been a good rack after five months of use. The good: - The paint is nice and vivid with minimal defects. Good even coating all around. - The j-cups with the UHMW are great quality and protect the bar nicely. - Ordered custom length uprights. - The crossmembers end plates are nice and thick - Quality of the safety straps and ability to swap out for the standard pin/pipe safety - Ease of changing heights of the safeties and j-cups The not so good: - The uprights themselves cave in locally around the bolts as I torqued them down. This happened with the supplied washers as well. I tightened everything down by hand with a ratchet and I don't think used unreasonable force as I am used to working on mechanical things. I also noticed the washers weren't uniform thickness and the thinner ones may have contributed to the holes with more local depression(I'm a mechanical engineer) - The stabilizer will get in the way if you would like to use a bench inside the rack for bench press. I found this out the hard way and decided to mount the stabilizer a little over half way up on the uprights. It is meant to be installed at the very bottom of the upright, so this was the next best option. Final thoughts: Overall, the rack is of good quality. I didn't notice the local caving-in of the uprights until mostly assembled. A recommended torque spec. of the bolts would have come in handy. An increased hardness or higher class of washer may have also helped with this. If I had to purchase another rack, I would purchase a flat foot rack to avoid the issue with the stabilizer in the way for bench pressing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Rack Definitely the best rack I have owned. The design and fabrication is flawless. You get what you pay for. I don't recommend buying the stabilizer bar as it's not needed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Yippie!!! Luv my new rig! So awesome and fits perfectly in my living room. I was one of those that dreaded going to the gym. But now, everyday at home is a workout vacation. Very sturdy when doing my pull-ups. Just have to say thanks to my boyfriend for the awesome gift!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love my rack I have had my RML-490 set up in my garage for a week now and it has been a week of pure bliss! This bad boy is solid, and the functionality is just what I needed. One thing I have noticed however is that there is no place for plate storage that does not affect one lift or another, whether it is plates hitting on bench or being in the way of safeties and J-cups. But I did not have room for a larger rack and I will just get some rogue channel for my plate storage one day. Another thing is that I bought the stabilizer bar and really wish I didn't waste my money. First of all, it is completely in the way of a bench if you want to work inside the rack, and secondly, I have found that it is completely unnecessary on my setup. I have my rack sitting on stall mats, not bolted down, without the stabilizer, and it doesn't move at all no matter what I do, even did some butterflies on it with no wobble. I wish I had known this would be the case and I would have used that money for a matador or the channel storage. All in all I am extremely pleased with this along with the rest of my rogue order, which arrived promptly and unscathed, minus one rogue sticker being a little wonky on an upright.
