WHAT SETS THE WESTSIDE POWER BAR APART:

1

Developed with Louie Simmons

We worked directly with legendary powerlifter, strength coach, and Westside Barbell founder Louie Simmons (1947-2022) to fine-tune this bar into one worthy of both the Rogue and Westside names. Every element of Version 2.0, from the knurling to the finish to the endcaps, was held to a champion’s standard. We believe this bar ranks with some of the best power bars ever made, but the words “Louie Simmons Approved” say more than we ever could.

205,000 PSI Steel

The Westside Power Bar’s 29MM diameter steel shaft now has a tensile strength of 205,000 PSI, delivering superior rigidity and virtually zero whip/flex. Machined and assembled in Columbus, Ohio, the bar also features a snap-ring design and quality bronze bushings for a smooth, consistent feel. Includes a lifetime warranty against bending.*

Aggressive Knurl

We updated the knurl pattern for Version 2.0 of the Westside Power Bar, turning again to Louie Simmons to test and refine an aggressive, precision powerlifting knurl—deep and coarse without being uncomfortably sharp or abrasive. A center knurl is also included for added “stick” to the back during squats.

Use It With These Other Rogue Products

Westside Power Bar owners can use the bar in conjunction with a broad range of other top caliber Rogue powerlifting products, from the Westside Bench and R-3 Power Rack to deadlift bar jacks, Wagon Wheel plates, and Calibrated Steel Plates.

Black Zinc + Proprietary Matte Black Finish

The Westside Power Bar has a distinct look, with a Black Zinc coating on the shaft, plus new green endcaps with the Rogue and Westside logos. The sleeves also now feature Rogue’s Proprietary Matte Black finish, which utilizes a process that effectively transforms the surface of the steel rather than coating it, greatly increasing the sleeves’ long-term corrosion resistance and color endurance. Please Note: The Proprietary Matte Black metal treatment process also hardens the steel, which can cause some additional friction with plates that have a chamfer.

F SCALE™

The F Scale™ is a durability scale for barbells based on functional testing at stresses similar to what barbells experience when being dropped from overhead. Bars that have been treated with Rogue Work Hardening (RWH™) are designated by having an R in their F Rating™. For more information on F Scale™ click here.

OXIDATION RATE

The resistance of a barbell to oxidation depends on the type of steel and the coating. Barbells at the lower end of the spectrum will require more care and maintenance to preserve their appearance than barbells at the upper end of the spectrum.

*Warranty against bending does not cover any bar which has been damaged due to negligent or faulty use, alteration, maintenance, storage or handling by the user. Negligent or faulty use includes abusive dropping of the bar (i.e., dropping the bar on a box, bench, spotter arms or pins in a power rack, excessive dropping with insufficient or damaged bumpers, or excessive dropping with iron plates, and similar usage). Any specific issues regarding a Rogue product with which a customer is not satisfied will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. We have found that most problems with bars we replace are related to abusive use rather than manufacturing or materials issues.

Had this bar for about 3 months now, and I love it. Really good knurling and feel. A few reviews have complained about the black slightly wearing off the sleeves — but come on, guys, it’s a barbell. You’re sliding metal across metal. Bar is excellent and indestructible.

Sexy Bar Fades
This thing looks sexy when you first get it. But it's been a few years now and that fades even with cleaning. It fades to something much much less sexy. Kind of wished I would've just got a stainless steel bar instead. Overall the knurling and feel of the bar is awesome and I've had zero problems with it unless how the color fades counts as a problem to you.

Great Bar- but covered in metal flakes
My wife bought this for me as a birthday present because I’m a high WSBB fan. I also own the stainless steel Ohio power bar; and a Texas power bar. Like my stainless OPB, this bar came covered in metal flakes. That tells me that the bar wasn’t properly cleaned and prepped prior to zinc plating; so I have little confidence that the zinc will hold up. It’s also a huge inconvenience trying to brush our thousands of little metal shards. Rogue really needs to clean their bars before sending them out. It took me months to get my stainless OPB cleaned up. That being said; the knurling on the bar is great. I was under the impression it’s the same knurl pattern as the OPB, but that’s not the case. This bars knurling is more aggressive than my stainless OPB; and feels identical to my Texas power bar. This is basically a 29mm Texas power bar.

Love the grip!
I love the bar and it’s knurling not to aggressive but does not allow slippage. The collars are amazing! With 6 plates on each side they do not slip or move during deadlifts. I am really happy with my purchase.

Classic steel feel and bad dude appearance
I bought this three years ago and it earns 5 stars. Zinc is best because it gives you that classic steel feeling while being corrosion resistant. Whether the coating chips a bit or not. Which mine hasn’t. Other coatings take away from that classic rugged barbell feel and you don’t need ultra corrosion resistance. I got mine when the price was marked down. It looks bad to the bone for sure and maybe the zinc coated collars gives some corrosion resistance benefit but it’s probably just and awesome bad dude special addition bar that has that classic steel barbell feel to it which may make the knurl feel extra good.

Exactly what I wanted
The bar showed up looking exactly as advertised. It's finish is awesome, it's stiff and heavy and everything about this bar says Westside! The extra sleeve length is noticeable and the new knurling is perfect. Nothing wrong with this power bar at all. Great job !!!

Good strong bar
The bar is great! I have no concerns of it ever becoming truly "damaged". The knurling seemed more aggressive than other bars at first, but it's been about a year since I've lifted so it may just be my hands. The coating kind of sucks to be honest though. Nearly every lift leaves black chips in my palm. It's more annoying than anything, but clearly the coating is not very durable. The HG collars have easily distorted the coating on the sleeves. i used to have a rogue cerakote bar, I would recommend one of those more as the coating seemed to be alot stronger, it felt better in the hands, and it never chipped off into the palm.

Great as a secondary bar
This is a nice barbell. The black on black zinc coating is beautiful. As many other's have stated, the bar arrived with a few knicks in the zinc coating, here and there on the sleeves, but they're small and nothing to get in a twist about. Where the blemishes are located, I would cause wear anyway from general use. So, no big deal, The knurling is good, but not quite as good as my stainless steel OPB. The zinc coating fills in some of the knurling, causing it to have less bite and resulting in a feel that is slightly less grippy. But I knew this going in, so again, not a big deal. I purchased this bar to serve as a backup and to use for ignorant lifts I wouldn't feel comfortable using my stainless OPB to do, like heavy rack pulls and such. So, when it gets beat up, I won't be bothered. That said, if you can only purchase one barbell, I wouldn't recommend the Westside power bar. I would recommend the all stainless steel OPB. It's knurling is sharper, and it's corrosion resistance is superior. But if you're in the market for a secondary stiff bar that can take a beating but also has a bit of corrosion resistance and just looks cool, this is a great barbell for that purpose.
