PowerDrive™

The Powerdrive is a loadable, drum-style conditioning tool built to challenge strength and endurance in a way few implements can replicate. Originally created to train football linemen, it debuted at the CrossFit Games as “The Snail” and later appeared at the Rogue Invitational in both Strongman and Strongwoman events. Its unique training effect comes from loose sand inside the drum, which prevents athletes from using momentum and forces sustained output.

BUILT FOR STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING

Developed by former NFL defensive tackle Doug English and the team at Power Drive Training Products, the Powerdrive delivers a powerful alternative to sled work. The rolling design keeps athletes low, drives engagement of the posterior chain, and demands consistent full-body effort. The unit weighs 115LB unloaded and can be filled with loose sand to exceed 1,000LB, allowing resistance to scale for any athlete.

Unlike sleds where resistance drops once speed builds, the sand inside the Powerdrive shifts up the back wall and then returns to the bottom with every rotation. This creates constant resistance that simulates driving against an opposing line.

LOADABLE WITH PLAY SAND

Fill the drum with dry, free-flowing play sand to reach your desired resistance. Typical training loads range from 200 to 800LB. Other materials will not move and settle in the same way and will not produce the same training effect.

COMPETITION PROVEN

The Powerdrive was introduced to the CrossFit community during the 2016 Games in the “Climbing Snail” event and has since been used across multiple competition environments, including the Rogue Invitational. Its consistent, momentum-free resistance also inspired other Rogue implements such as the Tumbler and the Wheel of Pain. This versatility makes it a valuable tool for football programs, strength training, and functional fitness.
