Full coverage of CrossFit Event 8; “Big Cat;” from the 2023 Rogue Invitational in Round Rock; Texas (Sunday; October 29). This includes the Women’s division at 1:30 and the Men’s division at 28:30. Even in ideal conditions; outracing the fittest athletes in the world through a gauntlet of box jumps; handtstand walks; and literal sprints would be a Herculean task. On the slick turf at a rain-soaked Dell Diamond; the Big Cat workout looked even more challenging. On the men’s side; in particular; it led to some topsy turvy results; as two athletes in the lower half of the leaderboard (Victor Hoffer and Tudor Magda) found their form and left most of the podium contenders in their dust. It was a similar story for the women; as Danielle Brandon and Paige Powers put up strong showings amidst the ongoing battle between Toomey and Horvath; which is now in a 680-680 tie with one event to go.
