LOW PROFILE SLEEVE DESIGN
Our sleeves use a new, low-profile design that makes loading and unloading plates easier than ever. Choose between a durable proprietary matte black finish, or black Cerakote if customized, or a classic chrome finish.
How It's Made
Rogue Work Hardening
Our patented, proprietary process more than doubles the durability and lifespan of the barbell shaft compared to our competitors.
Cerakote Shaft Finish
Cerakote delivers outstanding corrosion resistance over time—100X that of standard black zinc—while also providing many color options. This polymer-ceramic composite coating was first popularized in the firearm industry for its unique durability in thin applications.
Proprietary Sleeve Finish
Our matte black sleeve option involves a new process that effectively transforms the surface of the steel rather than coating it. This transformation significantly enhances the sleeves’ corrosion resistance, impact resistance, and abrasion resistance.
Chrome Sleeve Coating Option
Our chrome plated sleeve finish is performed in a facility that also plates parts for military aircraft where durability is critical.
State-of-the-art Gauging
We use gauging normally employed in the aerospace industry to ensure that every bar that makes it to a customer is exactly as designed.
Barbell Durability
RUST RESISTANCE
The resistance of a barbell to oxidation depends on the type of steel and the coating. Barbells at the lower end of the spectrum will require more care and maintenance to preserve their appearance than barbells at the upper end of the spectrum.
BARBELL DURABILITY
The F Scale™ is a durability scale for barbells based on functional testing at stresses similar to what barbells experience when being dropped from overhead. Bars that have been treated with Rogue Work Hardening (RWH™) are designated by having an R in their F Rating™. For more information on F Scale™ click here.
F SCALE™ APPLICATION
How a barbell is used will affect its durable lifespan and it's a key factor in determining what type of F Rating™ might be suitable for your gym's needs. This graph correlates the F Rating™ of a barbell with different types of usage in order to predict the durable lifespan. Using this data, we are able to make recommendations on what F Rating™ is appropriate for different training situations. With a rating of F8-R, the Ohio Bar is rated to last 16 years in a high volume CrossFit gym. Our F10-R stainless steel version is rated to last 20 years in a high volume CrossFit gym. Both will outlast a lifetime of lifting in an Olympic Weightlifting gym, a home gym or a Powerlifting gym.
Ohio Bar FAQ
Cerakote delivers outstanding corrosion resistance over time—100X that of standard black zinc—while also providing many color options. This polymer-ceramic composite coating was first popularized in the firearm industry for its unique durability in thin applications.
Stainless steel will be the most resistant to corrosion out of all barbell finishes. With no plating, the knurl is left exactly how we machined it, providing a great feel that cannot be achieved with other finishes.
We like to describe the Ohio Bar knurl as "middle of the road." It provides solid grip for a heavy pull, yet not too aggressive for multiple, high rep sets. A lot of testing went into this knurl profile that has become our signature knurl for more than a decade.
With a Cerakote or stainless finish and durable bushing sleeve design, virtually no maintenance is required for this barbell to continue to perform as it does on day one. For optimal results, we recommend regularly brushing the knurl with a nylon bristle brush to keep it clear of debris and chalk. 3:1 oil can also be used to brush in to remove anything that can't be removed from dry brushing. Wipe dry with a clean cloth.
This is a full length barbell, commonly referred to as a 7' long barbell. Exact length is 86.75".
The Ohio Bar carries a lifetime warranty against construction and bending. You can find the warranty details here.
No. The absence of a center knurl makes this bar an ideal choice for any movements involving the front rack position, saving the skin on your neck.
The Ohio Bar weighs 20KG or 44lbs.
Our barbells are tested by a third-party to determine their F-Rating, or fatigue resistance, which is a measured representation of the durability of the barbell. You can read more on the F-Rating and what affects the durability of any barbell on the market here.
Measured in PSI, tensile strength indicates the maximum weight a barbell can bear before undergoing deformation. With a tensile strength of 190K, or 200K for stainless, it aligns with the ideal range—resistant to permanent deformation under regular use, while avoiding over-inflation that could render the bar brittle and shorten its lifespan.
The Ohio Bar is designed to handle more weight than any human can lift. This is the bar of choice for many of the strongest athletes in the world and is backed with a lifetime warranty against bending. You won't find a static weight rating on any of our barbells, as that can be very misleading. This is because a barbell is always in a dynamic state during a lift, resulting in a potential failure at a weight much lower than the static weight rating.
Designed as an all-purpose barbell, the Ohio Bar excels in every movement—from the bench, squat, and deadlift to the clean, snatch, and everything in between. This bar is a great option for those looking for one general purpose barbell to "do it all."
Yes. The Ohio Bar has a 51-7/8" shaft length between the sleeves allows this to be racked on any well-known power racks, squat stands, or rigs in existence.
The Ohio Bar is compatible with all plates made to Olympic spec, commonly referred to as plates having a 2" center opening or Olympic plates.

Our barbells are tested by a third-party to determine their F-Rating, or fatigue resistance, which is a measured representation of the durability of the barbell.
BARBELL BUSHINGS
Choose between robust bronze or composite bushings that provide reliable fast spin while being exceptionally durable when subjected to impact from being dropped.
WHAT IS ROGUE WORK HARDENING?
Rogue Work Hardening (RWH) is our patented process for treating the shafts of our barbells to improve their durability.
BARBELL WEIGHT
20KG is the standard for most Powerlifting Federations, Men's Olympic Weightlifting and Men's CrossFit competitions.
BARBELL WHIP
The amount of springback provided by the bar that can be used by the lifter to increase the weight they can lift in dynamic movements.
BARBELL DIAMETER
The 28.5mm diameter falls directly between the 28mm Olympic and 29mm Powerlifting standard diameters.
MADE IN THE U.S.A.
Made from US steel, the Rogue Ohio Bar is machined and assembled at the Rogue factory in Columbus, OH.
TENSILE STRENGTH
Expressed in PSI, tensile strength measures the maximum weight a barbell can support before deforming. The 190K, or 200K for stainless, tensile strength falls within the optimal range of not bending under normal use, yet not been inflated to the point that it will shorten the life of the bar.
BARBELL KNURLING EXPLAINED
Our signature knurl, designed for multi-purpose use, provides a firm grip without being abrasive. This falls in the middle of the road on the knurl scale, striking a balance without being overly aggressive or passive.

CUSTOM BUILD-A-BAR OPTIONS WITH THE ZEUS OHIO BAR
Shaft Color - Cerakote
There are more than a dozen Cerakote color finishes to choose from with the Ohio Bar, so odds are good there’s a match for your room, favorite team, etc. Cerakote is an advanced ceramic-based coating, originally established in the gun industry for its remarkable durability in thin applications. This unique finish can deliver superb abrasion/wear/corrosion resistance over time—100X that of standard black zinc—and it offers far greater versatility in design, as well.
Sleeve Finish
Choose between classic Chrome or Black Cerakote. Please Note: If you want custom text on your sleeve collars, you’ll need to select the Cerakote option, as text cannot be added over chrome.
*If no customizations are made to the black sleeve, it will have our proprietary black finish instead of Cerakote.
Custom Color Bushings
The Ohio Bar is available with your choice of bronze or composite bushings. The composite bushings can additionally be selected in either black or red.
Custom Logos and Text on Shaft
Once you’ve selected your preferred Cerakote color finish for the Ohio Bar shaft, you can take the extra step of adding a personalized image and/or text to the center of the shaft. Logos can be conveniently uploaded via the dropdown menu, and customers can quickly select the font style and color of any text before typing a name, slogan, etc. into the provided text box.
Text on Sleeve Collars
Our custom text tool can be used for adding content to your bar’s sleeve collars, as well (only on Cerakote; text CANNOT be added on Chrome sleeves). Select your preferred font style and color, then type a name, slogan, etc., into the provided text box.
