Rogue RML-490 Power Rack

Starting with the same Westside-inspired design as the popular Rogue R-4 Power Rack, the RML-490 utilizes 3x3” 11-gauge steel uprights—making it among the strongest and sturdiest power racks in the industry. Built in Columbus, Ohio, this highly customizable Monster Lite rack is equipped to serve professional strength training facilities, collegiate weight rooms, military training bases, and small garage gyms, alike.

The RML-490 includes Westside hole spacing, 5/8” hardware, and a set each of Monster Lite J-cups, pin/pipe safeties, and band pegs. Both a 43” Fat/Skinny Pull-Up and 43” Single Skinny Pull-Up Bar also come standard.

With just a 53” x 53” standard footprint, the RML-490 Power Rack is a compact unit well suited to custom additions. Popular accessories include the Monster Lite Matador, Monster Lite Safety Spotter Arms, and Long Plate Storage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Truth in quality and build I cannot say enough about the RML-490. The build, quality and craftsmanship speaks for itself. It’s heavy/sturdy enough that I did not have to bolt it down. As of now, I have zero complaints about it, other than hoping/wishing Rogue will soon come out with a drop down safety for the ML racks. It’s a great feeling not having to pay for a membership fee at a commercial gym.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely Awesome! Recently had one of these delivered and assembled it in my new gym... The thing is built like a tank and I love it! The only criticism I would have is that there are 3 bolt holes on each leg to anchor the rack to the ground and one of them on each leg is positioned directly under the low bracing beam so getting a bolt rivet drill to it is impossible - Had to do each of these by hand with a spanner which was a bit of a ball-ache. Otherwise this thing is pretty much perfect - Would love to see some of the rack attachments that are available in the US here in Australia - GHD and Reverse Hyper attachments especially!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid Well built. Will never wear out. More expensive than some of the others I looked at but I feel it was worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wrench/Socket Size? What size wrench/socket do i need? All my sockets and wrenches were too small.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from All around great piece of equipment I bought this rack 9 months ago for a home gym and have used it almost every day since then. The packages arrived a little battered with some edges of the equipment sticking out, but that was expected with such a heavy piece of equipment. My girlfriend and I were able to assemble this in about half an hour by ourselves. I attached it to a home-made plywood/rubber lifting platform and it is extremely stable. I'm always jumping onto the pull up bar and it doesn't budge. The orange color is fantastic. I have several attachments - the matador, the crown pull up bar, and most recently a landmine. My only complaints are: how the landmine attaches to this unit - see that review for details; and just that the pin/pipe safety bars could be better. Every time you want to adjust the height of the safety bars, you have to take off the pipe that goes around the bar and then reinsert the pipe, through the bar. It's not my favorite thing to do alone, or in the middle of a workout. Also, when I bought the crown pull up bar, it came with silver screws which were an eye-sore when compared to the black. Rogue sent me replacement black ones for free! I think if you are deciding between the 390, 490, and 690 that any is a good option. I personally felt "claustrophobic" squatting inside a 390 and I thought the 690 would be too big. The 490 was a good compromise. I got a plate tree because there isn't a ton of storage space on the 490 if you are squatting inside the rack. Overall, minor flaws, but an incredible product. Would buy again.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I really wanted to give 5 stars, but... I really wanted to love this after spending over a grand on it, and I'm mostly satisfied, with some reservations. First, one of the uprights I received had a fairly deep gouge in it, although I shouldn't hold this against Rogue because they offered me some voucher money to make up for it. There are several other problems though. Secondly, is that pin-pipe safeties are just terrible. I had never used them before at my commercial gyms so I don't know what I was expecting, but man they are hard to to use, and I'm scared to drop my barbell on them for fear of damaging the knurling. Apparently, if you ask, you can get them to send strap safeties at a discount, but I didn't know this going in and wish I did because I would have totally gone for the straps. Thirdly, I didn't really think ahead how hard plate storage and accessories would be on the rack. It is very difficult to find a way to do plate storage with those storage pegs (bought separately from Rogue) that doesn't interfere with JCUP and weight placement. I guess this is a problem with power racks generally that don't have secondary back struts like the 690, so it's not really rogues fault per se. Finally, buying the stabilizer for the bottom sort of interferes with my shins when I unrack for squat, and more importantly, I can't push my bench all the way in because it gets in the way. All that said, the construction itself seems very solid and it doesn't wiggle much at all. I'm still happy I bought it, and some of these problems are ones that might generally be a problem for power racks of other brands too, but as a first-time home gym owner, they were problems I wasn't expecting to encounter.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Everything I expected It arrived a couple of weeks ago in about a dozen boxes. It was easy to assemble but I would recommend you have a second person around as it does get heavy. I built a platform from various plans I found on the internet and bolted the rack to the platform, not to concrete floor in my garage. Seems to be more than stable. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is the poor job of packing the pieces. It arrived with several large scratches because the packages broke open. See the attached photos. Other than that, an outstanding piece of equipment. Probably more than I'll ever need but exactly what I wanted.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than you Think! I decided in December to remodel my garage. Garage Gym 2018. Major undertaking of 200+ hrs solo. The crowning center piece of course could be no other than the RML-490C. I struggled with the color be never wavered in choosing the 490. Got free shipping b/c I went all in Rouge and could not be happier. This thing is a beast. It's solid, and the envy of all that lay eyes on it. If you are considering a rack, consider this one. 43" inside the cage is exactly what I wanted. Goodbye gym membership. I have no criticism, I give a full-throated endorsement. The team at Rouge is on to something. Made in the USA!
