WESTSIDE SCOUT HYPER
FOLDING REVERSE HYPER MACHINE

"I do hypers before and after I squat or deadlift." - Louie Simmons

The Scout Hyper is a patented, foldable reverse-hyper machine developed by powerlifting legend Louie Simmons and Westside Barbell. This uniquely lightweight and mobile design features hinging legs that lock into place with pop pins and easily fold back for efficient storage after use (the total depth of the unit, when folded, is just 13”).

Louie Simmons created this model with home, work, and light clinical use in mind—with particular benefits for younger athletes or those new to reverse hyper training. The unit comes standard with a durable, round-edge pad (27.5” wide x 21.5” deep x 2” thick) to limit friction against the hips, as well as a nylon webbing hyper strap, two weight posts (5.25” loadable length), a set of spring collars, and 6” long handles. A bolt-on handle extension kit is also available a la carte for users who need to accommodate a shorter distance from the end of the pad to the handles.

The Scout Hyper comes with rubber feet (to provide grip to the floor and help keep the unit level) and a rubber-covered step for safe mounting and dismounting. When a workout is complete, the user simply has to (1) pull out and spin the pop pins to unlock the unit, (2) tip the machine up while pushing on the horizontal rear leg crossmember, and (3) press down on the handles to complete the folding process. Please Note: The unit stands up by itself when folded, but we do recommend either storing it flat on the ground or if storing it upright, doing so against a wall and out of the reach of children.

Please Note: The unit stands up by itself when folded, but we do recommend either storing it flat on the ground or, if storing it upright, to do so against a wall and out of the reach of children.

KEY FEATURES OF THE SCOUT HYPER

1

PATENTED FOLDABLE DESIGN

Whether you train in a small garage gym or a large-scale facility, space efficiency always counts. The Westside Scout Hyper offers storage convenience with its patented groove folding mechanism, collapsing down to a depth of just 13” when stowed. It’s also considerably lighter and more portable than most traditional Reverse Hyper machines, making it easy to move, unfold, and lock-in before each use.

2

UNIQUE TRAINING BENEFITS

Regular use of the Scout Hyper can provide safe traction, pressure/tension relief in the lower back, and strengthening of the posterior chain. “We spend hours sitting or standing at home, work or at school,” Louie Simmons says. “These simple yet everyday occurrences place significant pressure and torsion on our lumbar spine leading to mild or even severe daily discomfort. That's where the Scout steps in. A daily prescription of three to five sets of 15 reps on this machine could be the difference from painful to pain-free lumbar health.”

3

ASSEMBLY & SAFETY

User assembly is required with this unit, but should take less than 30 mins. All required hardware is included. Rubber feet are provided for improved stability, and a rubber covering on the step makes it easier to get on and off of the machine. Please BE CAUTIOUS when folding and unfolding the Scout, and be aware of pinch points. If the red marking on the pop pin shaft is visible then the pin is NOT fully seated. Periodically check that the pop pin and swing-arm bolts are tight on both sides of the machine, as well as the bolt that secures the hyper strap.

*Rogue Fitness warrants that the Westside Scout Hyper shall be free from defect in material and workmanship for a period of two years from the date of purchase when the product is used under normal uses and conditions and as recommended in the User Guide. For full warranty information click here.

Bought this a couple of months ago used 2-3 times a week very happy with the build, Rogue service tools included in the box to build it nice touch. Limited on weight loading as I only have bumper plates but I get 90k on which is heavy fo me

Rock Solid Construction! Excellent addition!
I don't know why I waited until now to get this. This machine is incredible. The Scout's construction is second to none. If the house was leveled by a tornado and an earthquake this thing would still be standing and ready for more sets. Got it to help rehab from an injury and it's worked miracles. Maybe if I'd had it before I might've avoided getting injured in the first place. Great addition to my gym and I can't recommend highly enough.

Great exercise! Rock solid machine!
Using it for 8 weeks now every 2nd day 3-4 sets. Very good improvement of the lower back. Getting real „pump“ in that area.

Well Built, Versatile, Needs Some Improvements
Had this on my wish list for over a year and finally pulled the trigger. It’s much larger in person than I even expected, but that makes it feel more high quality. I am using it for a few additional exercises than just reverse hypers which helps to justify the cost a bit better. I had similar issues to another reviewer where the leg components aren’t flush with one another when putting it together, not ideal but doesn’t affect functionality. I also received different colored rubber feet which looks…odd. Two improvements I would recommend, have pop pins lock the machine in the folded configuration, moving it is awkward as it tries to unfold itself while putting it away/setting up and there aren’t great hand holds to carry it. Second, if you buy the handle extension kit, you can no longer fold the swing arm all the way in to use the lockout pin when folded, there needs to be a second locking pin hole for when the handle extensions are installed.

Top Buy
I thought the Reverse Hyper would be the best option for my clients and myself as the Roman Chair aggravated my lower back. This piece of equipment has been a great asset to my gym!

So far, so good.
Purchased and picked up from Rogue HQ in April 2022 after being on the 'notify me' list for at least a few months. Easy to assemble and no surprises with regards to quality (or lack of). Feels sturdy when loaded and in use. I am 5'10" 185 and no issues with regards to using or reaching the handles. I could see someone shorter needing the extra handles, may need to pick up for my 5'4" spouse. Only question I have after assembling is the swing arm isn't as free swinging as other reverse hypers I have used. Not sure if this is intended or not but there is some slight resistance to it. Doesn't seem to effect the use when loaded with weight but curious if it will loosen up over time or if it is fact binding a bit and if it will cause any issues. Will attach photos to show, with no weight you can position the swing arm forward or back and it stays. Overall, happy with the purchase.

Thanks for stopping by! We're happy to see you've been putting this to great use. We are going to have the team reach out to further investigate the swing arm.
