Rogue FT-1 Functional Trainer

Rogue’s FT-1 Functional Trainer features (2) of our CT-1 Cable Tower stations linked together by (1) 43” Monster Crossmember at the bottom of the unit and (1) laser-cut Rogue branded Monster Nameplate Crossmember at the top. This modular, space-efficient unit was inspired by a configuration first devised by U.S. Navy Veteran and garage gym builder Nick Gills.

By combining storage shelves [available at additional cost] between two CT-1 cable columns, users are able to gain tons of storage with dual cables in a relatively small footprint [90.4” x 47”]. The unit can be configured with up to 4 shelves in different varieties (DBs, KBs, bumpers) on the 100” uprights.

The FT-1 Functional Trainer can be assembled as a standalone unit or attached to the back of an existing Monster Rack (with at least 100” uprights)*. As a Monster unit, the FT-1 can accommodate our 43” Monster Rack Storage Panels and all versions of our 43” Monster Single-Post Shelves. The front top crossmember also accommodates the addition of a Monster Crown Pull-Up Bar or Solo Mount Pull-Up Bar. Any of these attachments can be added to your order via the menu in the purchase area.

*Customers interested in a rack-mounted FT-1 should contact team@roguefitness.com for complete details on this set-up.

For similar configurations, see:

  • CC-1 Cable Crossover: in which two CT-1 units are connected by 107.25” steel bridge and mounting brackets
  • Monster Cave - in which two CT-1 Towers can be combined with a Fold Back Rack in the center

Shipping Notice:  This product ships on an oversized skid that is not able to be delivered using a traditional liftgate. If you do not have a freight loading dock, additional measures may be necessary in order to deliver this unit.

Note: This product is made to order and all returns carry a 20% restock fee for the standard black colorway.  All sales are final for custom colors.

2 CT-1 Cable Towers

These precision-built columns enable a wide range of cable machine exercises, including rows, curls, tricep pushdowns, cable crossovers, and more. Users can adjust the weight load via the 250 LB weight stack, which is broken into 10 LB increments with a 2:1 ratio. The single handle pulley assembly features a 180-degree swivel and can be quickly set up high or low depending on the workout, utilizing the knurled stainless steel adjustment handle. There are 16 different height adjustment settings on the 2x2 rail, and with acetal pads inside the handle assembly, users can easily move the swivel up and down without damaging the stainless slide tube.

Big Storage Potential, Small Footprint

Big Storage Potential, Small Footprint

The FT-1’s configuration was inspired by U.S. Navy Veteran and garage gym builder Nick Gills. It’s set apart by its modularity, as the incorporation of Monster uprights and crossmembers makes the unit compatible with a wide assortment of attachments and accessories, including our 43” Monster Rack Storage Panels and 43” Monster Single-Post Shelves. Effectively then, the FT-1 is equivalent in width and storage capacity to a Monster 4-tier storage rack, while simultaneously providing TWO fully functional cable pulley stations. Formed and welded steel adapter brackets set each of the CT-1s in this configuration at a 45-degree angle.

Quality Rogue Construction

Each 3x3” 11-gauge steel CT-1 unit is manufactured at our Reflex Fitness facility in Iowa. Their 6” aluminum pulleys and 250 LB weight stack are both machined in-house, and the 1/4” cable itself is made to the same military specifications as aircraft cable; jacketed in nylon for superior flexibility and durability. The standard finish is a classic MG Black powdercoat. The FT-1 also comes standard with a pair of 43” Monster Crossmembers for connecting the two towers. The top crossmember includes an MG Black / Rogue Red Monster nameplate with laser-cut branding.

The front top crossmember can also accommodate the addition of a Monster Crown Pull-Up Bar or Solo Mount Pull-Up Bar.

The 'Golden Standard' of Functional Trainer
I want to start off by saying I never leave product reviews; I'm not wired in that way. My expectations of a product should match the description, however if it comes up short I usually just leave it alone. I've had this functional trainer for six months now and due to the purchase cost, and my immense love for this piece of equipment, I figured I owed it to a potential buyer the pros/cons of such a purchase. BLUF: This is the best piece of equipment I have ever used. The quality, engineering, and fabrication of the product is world-class. The gamechanger for me is that this trainer has completed my home gym entirely; I no longer go to gyms because I have everything at home. It's obvious why Rogue is the go-to manufacturer for weightlifting equipment, and it's even more apparent that the quality is topnotch because it's manufactured in 'Merica. I have been an avid weightlifter/body builder for close to three decades. I have been to numerous gyms and used numerous pieces of equipment. I know well-made, well-maintained equipment and I can tell you that this functional trainer beats them all. Veteran lifters will understand what I'm saying the moment they place an attachment and pull the cable weight. Pros: - Very well crafted. You can feel the quality in the steel. - Functionality is the smoothest I have experienced. No tugging from the cable, kinks, or potential stripping. - Accessories/attachments to this trainer are also world-class. - You can literally do any exercise on this trainer. Highly recommend purchasing the pull-up bar (I purchased the Rogue Monster Crown Pull Up Bar and love it). - Rogue Support is phenomenal. The instruction guide was missing and after contacting them, within two hours I had the instruction manual sent to my email. They also shipped out a paper copy to make it right. - In addition to Rogue Support, I asked if the nameplate could colored Green. My gym theme is neon green and they were able to make it happen. Cons: - This thing is heavy. You will need at least two people to assemble. I did it myself because I'm stubborn, and it couldve went very bad. Please do not be like me and go get help when assembling this, I do not want my fellow lifters injured! - Not really a con, but understand that the 250lbs is not really 250lbs. It is….but the feel of it is not. The leverage and smoothness of the cable system allows you to lift more, if that makes sense. I tend to go over the 250lbs mark with back exercises, and all I do is attach a band around the band pegs that come included…works perfectly. - You'll need a skid loader to unload; this shipment comes in two extended pallets (reminder that this is two CT-1 cable columns connected). It will cost you a bit more to rent a skid. - This trainer is pricey. However….you get what you pay for. I have no regrets. - Also not really a can, but I would love it if Rogue could come out with a seat that can connect/disconnect, similar to the Monster rack series. I use a Rogue bench whenever I do pull-downs, so its not a major issue. Im very pleased with this equipment; hopefully this review helps those looking for next-level editions to their home or commercial gym (I'd be selfish and say that this trainer deserves better than commercial use haha).

The 'Golden Standard' of Functional Trainers
I do not leave reviews for products; I'm not built that way unfortunately. However, I feel that someone looking for a this type of product, built with utmost quality, and is willing to shed some cash, that it's important I do say something (as I would have appreciated it during my sourcing). BLUF: This has been game-changer. Ive been a weight lifter for almost three decades and I know good equipment upkeep when I encounter it. This quality is bar-none the best, and it makes sense as it is constructed in 'Merica. I've had this Functional Trainer for over six months and feel its appropriate to give it a fair rating. Reminder that this trainer is the combination of a single Functional Trainer. Pros: - Equipment is solid; crafted world-class. You can feel the difference in the actual steel. This thing is aesthetic art. - The 'smoothness' of the cable pull is something veteran lifters will appreciate. No tangles, sticky stops, or unnatural resistance. - Multiple exercises to perform. Push, pull, stretch, you name it. You can do literally everything on here. - Attachments are also world-class; you can feel the difference in them as well. - Space-savvy; it is big, but for the width and the amount of you can perform, this is perfect for any gym, garage, or under-the-roof. - Rogue support is fantastic. I have a neon-green setup in my garage; I asked them if they could spray the nameplate green and they sure did! Was very happy with Rogue for doing so. -In Addition to Rogue support, the instruction manual was missed being sent; they expedited the manual via email once I created a ticket. Cons: - This darn thing is heavy. You need two people; I'm stubborn and decided to do it myself...I got it done, but honestly it could've went very wrong. Please get support on constructing this equipment! - The weights are legit, however dont expect 250lbs to be 250lbs. The reason is due to leverage; if you're stronger than the 250lbs limit, you can use bands for additional resistance. I do this and it has worked perfect. - You'll need a skid loader to unload from the carrier. Again - this thing is tall and heavy, so expect a large shipment with two pieces. - It is pricey- but you pay for what you get. I have no regrets; if you can afford it, get it. I dont have many cons with this equipment; if you're an experience (or even beginner) lifter, you'll know what I mean when you use it. I no longer go to the gym unless its for motivational appearance (or bragging haha). I suggest getting the accessories & add-on's if you can afford it. It makes for a piece of art that lifters can appreciate. I cant stress enough: Get support when constructing this equipment. It'll limit your injury and possible damage to the trainer.

Great product, but you should know.
I bought this to add to my home gym. I love it, but assembly is no joke and the weight distribution is way off. So, just know that a 250lb stack is not close to 250lbs. That’s the only real complaint.

Amazing, wish there was under just under 96”
Awesome unit. Rogue’s FT could crush the competition if they had a shorter version as well for Home Gym users where 8” ceilings are all too common and restrictive. Is there any plan to release a model that is less than 96”?

Beast of a Machine
My wife and I gifted this to ourselves for Christmas last year, and I wanted to spend some time with it before I wrote a review. We just passed the six-month mark since purchasing and will cross the six-month mark of actual usage (shipping lead time) in July. The ability to perform virtually any cable movement at home has been a complete game changer for us. The Rogue FT-1 Functional Trainer will quite literally outperform most if not all functional trainers in even the best of gyms. Make sure that you have at least a few sets of hands on deck when this arrives at your doorsteps. It would be next to impossible to expect to assemble it on your own. Additionally, most if not all will need a forklift on hand to receive the machine to begin with. The oversized pallets are far too big to remove from the trailer it arrives on with just a pallet jack alone. However, Rogue explains all the necessary steps in your order confirmation emails. The lone modification I have made to the machine is the color of the nameplate. I used a sanding wheel on my grinder, and then painted the steel matte black.
