Rogue RM-3 Fortis Rack

The versatile, American-made RM-3 Fortis power rack features the same 3x3" 11 gauge steel construction and 1" hardware as the standard Monster Series, but with fully welded panels in a satin black finish. The holes are spaced 2" on center up and down the front and back of each 90.375" upright, and two different pull-up bar options are available—the Monster Fat/Skinny or Monster Single Skinny Bar. These features—along with the reduction in hardware and shipping created by the full panel welding—makes the Fortis a top quality power rack at a budget price.

Both the 30" depth RM-3 Fortis rack and the 43" depth RM-4 Fortis are manufactured in the USA, and ship with a set each of Monster J-cups, Pin/Pipe Safeties, and Band Pegs. Every pin position on the uprights and the bottom crossmembers is identified with a laser cut number, allowing an easy visual when setting J-cups and safeties to identical heights. A wide range of compatible, Monster accessories are also available.

Pull-Up Bar Options:

  • Monster Fat/Skinny Bar: Crossmember that spans the middle of the panels. Black powder coat finish.
  • Monster Single Skinny Bar: Installs on the front of the rack, and a Monster 43" beam with gusset connects the back of the panels. Black powder coat finish.

Welded Goodness
Great rack. 30” depth provides a ton of working room without being overkill, and the extra working height over the standard R-3 is great as it allows me to overhead press inside the rack at 6’ tall (pin presses become an option). Went with the Fortis over the standard RM-3 because I wanted the welded panels. The only drawback is that the rear crossmember can’t sit perfectly flush against the upright due to the weld. At first I bolted it all tight, but due to the weld creating a wider gap at the top than the bottom, this created an angle and the uprights were not level. A quick listening up and a few measurements later, she’s perfectly squared. Even with a small gap at the bottom of the rear crossing due to the weld, bolted to an OSB/rubber platform this thing is incredibly solid. Zero play front to back, and minimal side to side play even on rubber mats with a raised diamond pattern. Happy I went with the Fortis. For those unaware, I’m not sure what type of metal they make the pipes out of, but my bar was unscathed when doing a test roll across them for the bench press. The bar left indentions in the pipe, but was unscathed itself. Pretty clever by Rogue to protect the bar. And last thing, this rack is ridiculously overbuilt. I kept laughing as I pulled pieces out of the box. Unless I mistreat the rack and let it rust to bits, I can’t imagine ever needing a new rack in my lifetime.

Cosmetic issues
Very nice and easy to put together. 2 complaints are if you order fat/skinny bar it doesn’t come with a top cross member and the rack can be pretty wobbly. The second is that there were some pretty major cosmetic damages and super glue all over one of the racks I got in, I didn’t report it because I didn’t feel like going through the hassle of figuring out how to send it back. Other than that an overall good product but I would suggest getting a cross member.

Perfect!
Very solid rack at a legit price. I would recommend adding the monster half rack foot pair. See link below https://www.roguefitness.com/monster-half-rack-foot-pair The rack alone is great. But if you want to lift outside the rack, this completes it. The legs allow me to use the dip attachment without any flex in the rack.

The Perfect Rack For Me
After having an RM4 for a little over two years that was bolted to my 8’ x 8’ platform I chose to “downgrade” to the RM3 Fortis. Spending hundreds of training sessions on the RM4 I came to realize the 43” depth is overkill and then some for me. The extra rack space was not worth the limited deadlift space on the platform. The RM3 Fortis 30” depth is still more than enough to squat with and the extra deadlift space has been incredible. The welded uprights are also very easy to move around and make assembly much easier. Not to mention it is even more sturdy than my RM4 was. I think if you have a garage gym, will bolt your rack to a platform, and train for general strength or powerlifting this is the perfect power rack.

best rack around
i have used this rack for 2 years and found it to be simple outstanding. i have a small garage gym so i chose the RM-3 instead of the RM-4 . my wife and i use the rack for different purposes, i compete in multiply Powerlifting so i needed a rack that was built like a tank and could be equipped with mono-lift attachments and safety straps. my wife is a climber so she needed one that could host a myriad of pull up options. we both required a rack that would support recovery/rehab attachments. the RM-3 did all of this perfectly, not to mention the shipping was fast and reasonable and the assembly was easy. i rate this rack 5 stars for the following reasons 1. shipping and assembly, easy. 2. versatility, nearly limitless. 3. space saving without compromising utility. 4. price point allows for quality mods. 5. like most monster racks this could become a gym in itself if neccessary.

10/10 Worth every penny!
I purchased this rack 8 months ago during “Matte Black November” and I couldn’t be happier about my purchase. Once bolted down or weighed down this thing does not budge. The welds on it are clean and the black powder coat finish looks great. I decided to not bolt my rack down and instead use four 12” plate storage pins with a set of York Legacy plates. The look of the black plates and black rack are sleek and one of my favorite things about my set up. Another thing I love is with band pegs and a set of bands the rack can be used for practically any exercise you can think of because of the 1’ holes being on every side of the rack including the crossbeams. One of my favorite exercises using the rack and a band are seated hamstrings curls. I’ve also been able to do facepulls, Bicep curls, pushdowns, rows, lateral raises and plenty others just using the rack and a band. One of the biggest drawbacks I hear about getting a heavy duty rack like this is the price, but in my opinion the RM-3 Fortis Rack is completely worth the value and will absolutely retain its value for many years to come if I ever choose to sell my rack somewhere down the line. Not that I am planning to that though because this thing is amazing and I love using it on a daily basis. 10/10 would buy again without question!
