Rogue HR-2 Half Rack

The customizable Rogue HR-2 Half Rack can be installed as a stand-alone unit or by converting an existing Monster Lite Series squat stand .

Manufactured in Columbus, Ohio, the HR-2 features the same 2x3" 11-gauge steel base and 48" x 49" footprint as the SML-2, but incorporates an additional pair of 3x3” 11-gauge steel uprights and 17” crossmembers in the back of the unit. This gives the rack a huge amount of additional storage capacity and almost a foot and a half of inside depth for benching, rack pulls, and more. The Half Rack also offers a range of customizable options to best suit your needs—including the optional plate storage and pin/pipe safety sets, and a selection of different heights for the uprights themselves (90” or 108” for the front; 70” or 90” for the back).

IMPORTANT: If you already own a Rogue Monster Lite Squat Stand (SML-1, SML-2, or SML-3) and wish to convert it to an HR-2, we offer a Half Rack Conversion Kit that would include all the components and hardware you’ll need.

The optimal rack set-up
Copying my review from the HR-2 Conversion Kit All in all, I think the half rack design is the most versatile. Most commercial and CrossFit gyms will have more half racks than full racks, and it makes it really nice to transition from rack lifts (OHP or squat) to floor lifts (rows, deadlifts) - and gives you an option to "dump" the bar if you have bumpers. Biggest benefit for me is changing out all the specialty bars I use. In an enclosed rack, switching out the bars as often as I do would be a giant pain. The monkey chin bar is by far my favorite bar, and supplements the fat bar (kept in the back for added stability) nicely. The neutral grips and angled grips are big wrist/elbow savers. I think short plate storage is the way to go for most people. You can have one long one if you want, but the 6" pegs are usually more than enough to hold your 35s, 25s, 10s, etc. To get this rack, I ordered the SML-2C (blue) and HR-2 Conversion Kit (90"), then immediately emailed customer service to ask for three substitutions: -HR-2 upright changed from black to blue (no cost) -17" lasercut crossmembers changed to holed crossmembers (invoiced, but no cost in the end) -HR-2 bolts changed from bright zinc to black zinc ($16 per 4 pack) After receiving the price for the black bolts, I declined that one. Between all the storage posts and attachments, that would cost a fortune. Totally not worth it, especially considering other reviews showed the black zinc wears away during shipping. Instead, I just spray painted all the silver ones black. Additional items I ordered: -Short plate storage x4 -Long plate storage -Double change plate storage -Multi-Grip Pull up bar (requires the new 17" crossmember) -Flying Pull-up Bar -Sandwhich J-cups and Safeties (aftermarket)

Best Home Gym Addition
I bought the half rack, bar, weight pegs, bands, and bumper plates in 2017 for my new home gym as I was returning from overseas. I did buy some other pieces from other retailers to with it. All I can say is that I used it for four years on a regular basis snd loved it. The quality of the Rogue system is second to none. This setup is perfect for a home gym. The saddest day of our pack out was taking it apart and seeing it go into storage.

More storage options and stabilization
I got this because of two issues: 1) I wanted storage for my bumper plates versus leaving them on the ground everywhere and 2) wanted something to stabilize my rack [from swaying] when doing dips with the matador. The conversion kit coupled with the stabilizer kit definitely resolved my issues.

Rogue Half Rack
Great Quality, tons of available accessories also. Only issue with it is that the cross beams are too low for me to use for back squats. Some of the competitor half racks have diagonal cross beams that mitigate this issue, this would be an easy thing for Rogue to offer to increase the versatility of this rack.

Great quality, sturdy and durable material
I bought this over two months ago and use the rack every day, whether it's an actual workout or just hanging/leg raises from the pull-up bar it has exceeded my expectations! The rack is super sturdy even before I added any weight for it to hold (i.e. muscle-ups or those weird I bet even for those crossfit pull-ups - if that's your thing). SO many options to adjust the height, more than my old gym's racks! SIDE NOTE -- I accidentally purchased two of the conversion kits and received a full refund upon returning the extra equipment.

Sturdy, space saver! Best investment I've made! Perfect for my garage gym setup! I added the same height backplate to square it off and added the monster nameplate for looks! Absolutely beast of a unit!
