HR-2 Half Rack Conversion Kit is rated

If you didn't start with the HR-2 Half Rack..I actually converted my SML-1 by ordering the Half Rack Conversion Kit with 90" sticks rather than 70". In hindsight I would have just ordered the HR-2 at the beginning (I had to order a separate pull-up bar because the SML-1 doesn't have one). I initially only planned on have a very basic stand to do squats and bench, but was so impressed by the quality that I decided it would be a worthwhile investment to build out.
The setup is solid and easy to assemble, which is the basis for my 5-star rating. Sure I can make the unit sway a little side to side, but in the course of my regular workouts that doesn't happen. I should note that I do military style pull-ups, not these swinging variety that seem popular among crossfit enthusiasts; you might get a little sway depending on how violent your body movement is during that exercise. Also, because I didn't have the SML-2 with pull-up bar I cannot say whether the HR-2 improves the stability for pull-ups...though I would certainly think it does.
I feel that having the plates on the storage pegs (which are shown in the photo but not included in the conversion kit - they have separate costs) help make the unit a bit more sturdy. They certainly save space.
I did not order the Pin/Pipe Safety set; I have the Safety Spotter Arms and do everything on the front of the rack. The Pin/Pipes might make for a great mini/pseudo "power rack", but plate storage pegs (if purchased) would definitely get in the way of a squat or bench press.

Incredible build from ROGUE with one minor flawThis thing is beast. If your thinking about converting your SML or S series squat stands do it. My only complaint is I wish it would fit 4 sets of bumpers on the half rack. I don’t know if I’m doing something wrong but the last set on the bottom overlap the one right above it..it literally just needed to be made another 2 inches higher..

Slight improvementI am a big dude, and bought this for the sole reason of making the squat stand more stable. I thought I would be able to push the rig flat against the wall so it wouldn't wobble but there was still a 2" gap. Looked like it may have worked from the photos provided but I was mistake. Ended up shimming it with a few 2x4s and it's rock solid now. If I were to re-equip my home gym I would just shell out for a proper power rack.

Great addition to the S-2I bought this mostly for plate storage but it also made the S-2, which is very sturdy to begin with, even more so. Very beefy.

Love this rack!Awesome add-in to my S series rack! Stops the sway if loaded with weight. No problems at all with this rack. Great rogue American made quality. I'm ready to get something even beefier. It all depends on how much your willing to spend. But you can't go wrong with rogue!

Stop the sway in your standI ordered this for two reasons. The first is to kill the sway in the stand, before I had to weigh the feet down to do any kipping pull-ups or T2Bs; now with just the conversion kit, I can swing all I want (5'10"@205#). The second reason is to reduce the amount of space needed for my weights. I haven't bought the storage bars yet, but will write a review for those in the future.
My only complaint is that only one of the uprights had a rogue sticker on it, but both had the cut out "R".
Lastly I gave 5 stars because this thing is solid and does everything it is advertised to do; however, if I was do do it again, I would have just purchased the 90" uprights so I could do overhead work in the rack. That would give even more space for storage. (Rogue, if you do decide to make a taller half rack, I would like 10% of sales).

Expanded My S-2 Squat Stands For The BetterI have had this expansion pack for a year or so......noticed I never reviewed it. Was watching a "Garage Gym Tour" on YouTube. When they got to their rack that they "Got on Amazon for $250" they racked an empty bar to demonstrate features and the rack shook a bit, side to side. That was with an empty bar!
Made me realize how essential it is too have a rock solid rack. If I were to do it again I would have bought a full rack.......but that was not the path I started on. I was able to expand on my S-2 Squat Stand and not lose my original equipment investment. I now have plate storage, ability to do pull-ups.....not kipping, strict, I even mounted a Reverse Hyper to the rack.......ROGUE would probably not recommend that but......it works well. The rack is so solid I drilled some holes in the base and use Band Pegs & Bands for Squats, Deads, and Benching.
I defy anyone to show me that they got as much out of "Squat Stands" than I did.

NOT Compatible with S-Series Squat StandI am currently starting the return process, so I'll update my review if Rogue makes this right, but I wanted to post a review in hopes of saving someone else money & headache.
While this Half Rack does bolt to the Infinity Squat stand, that's as far as it goes. It's not compatible in any other way. The Half Rack is actually sized as a Monster Lite (3x3) as opposed to the S-series Squat Stands (which is Infinity sized, 2x3). Nothing I currently own is compatible with the Half Rack - plate storage posts, j-cups, etc. Because of this, I am having to return the second infinity single plate storage holder I ordered & the one I currently own will have to stay on the squat stand instead of allowing me to move it to the half rack as desired. Additionally, I ordered the short plate storage posts & now I'm having to return the short bolts for the longer ones that will fit on the half rack.
Looking back over my order & the website, I do realize the website stated the measurements; however, it was only because I was specifically looking for them did I realize my mistake. When first glancing at the Half Rack Conversion Kit, it states (in bold letters) it's made for the S-series Squat Stands. If you claim an item is compatible with another item, it should actually be compatible - not just bolt on.
Additionally, I noticed if you order the Half Rack as whole, you are given the option for 90" uprights. Why was this not provided as an option for the S-series Half Rack Conversion Kit? After pulling them out of the package, I immediately wished they were taller. I ordered an extra pull-up bar as well in hopes of using the Half Rack uprights as a spot for a second pull-up bar & my rings. They are so short, only my son can use the pull-up bar now.
Overall, I am very dissatisfied with this product & feel it could have been much better thought out to make it a truly useful, compatible product - which is why people pay good money for Rogue products. Unfortunately shipping is so expensive & inconvenient, I can't justify returning the Half Rack. I'm hoping Rogues offers to help me out. If not, I'm stuck with it & I'll figure out how to make it work. Hopefully this review will help someone else out.
