ONNIT Steel Maces

ONNIT Steel Maces are available in five different weight options (7LB, 10LB, 15LB, 20LB, 25LB), and make dynamic additions to a home gym or a larger training facility—giving athletes the ability to incorporate challenging swinging movements with squats, curls, lunges, presses, and slams for a unique, full body workout.

While some trainers have championed the re-emergence of macebell training as a return to the “primal roots” of fitness, the actual functionality and benefits of this implement are as much in line with the needs of the modern athlete as most mainstream weight-training methods—if not more so. The key—as it was for the Persian warriors who first started using the mace, or “Gada,” in the 13th century—is disproportionate weight displacement. Because the weight in the macebell is almost entirely centered in the head, it challenges the stabilizer muscles surrounding our joints and primary power centers, ultimately developing superior core and rotational strength.

ONNIT Steel Maces are constructed from precision-balanced, hand-sculpted cast iron, and offer long-lasting durability with a budget-friendly price. For relative beginners, popular mace workouts like the 360, Uppercut Press, Ballistic Curls, and Alternating Swing Lunge are best to develop and perfect at a lower starting weight (15LB or less) before moving on to a heavier option. An additional benefit of the mace, however, is that you can also increase the resistance simply by sliding your hand closer to the end of the handle.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simple and Effective Extremely simple and effective! Bought this to focus on functional strength and it does the job! Just wish the grip was slightly improved as it can get slick from moisture.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Wish it was longer Ive been using this mace for about 3 weeks now and I am really happy with it. I can feel my shoulders working in ways they haven't before. The only reason why I gave it three stars is because after learning more about maces, I found out that the handles are supposed to be longer. Onnit's steel maces have short handles compared to traditional maces used in India, or other steel maces made by companies who made maces closer to traditional ones. Wish I could return this mace and invest in a one from a different company.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great quality I but from Rogue because of the quality. My garage gym is full of Rogue equipment because they haven't let me down.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from onnit steel mace i purchased the 'onnit' steel mace about one month ago, plenty of time to work with it to review. my only criticism is i think a little flare at the end of the handle could be useful in bringing alert to being towards the end of the grip, yet that could potentially restrict some range of motion or dig into the hand. aside from that, the quality in terms of finish and fabrication is great. i really like that these are compact in comparison to a bulkier macebell i work with, the movement is quicker with some snap to it. the 'onnit steel mace' also works well in location with limited space.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for breaking plateaus These are perfect to break up a routine and workout muscles you may not even know you had. The biggest areas I noticed a difference when using these are grip strength and, surprisingly, cardio. You can use it anywhere from an apartment, field, or garage, and you can choose how hard you want your workout to be by changing hand positions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful quality No other steel maces compared to the Onnit ones! Love the appearance and most especially with the quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 7 pounder is good to go. I purchased the 7# for my wife some time back and she has enjoyed the workouts she has done with it. The grip is considerably better than we had expected from other reviews here, and the quality is hard to argue with for the price. We are both sold and I will be purchasing the 10# for her in the coming weeks.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It's alright, but there are better alternatives These are fine as an intro to mace training or if your budget is really tight, but there are much better maces out there. First off, the knurling on these is a joke and is more for looks than actual function. Secondly, there is no cap on the end of the handle, so that combined with the light knurling makes for a slippery problem when things get sweaty. Those things aside, it functions alright, but if you're serious about mace training you should invest some extra money and get a Wolf Brigade mace or something nice from Ryan over at Stronger Grip.
