Wolf Brigade Mace

Designed by the highly-experienced team at Wolf Brigade in Rochester, New York, the official Wolf Brigade Mace is a hand-poured, hand-finished, 100% American-made mace for the 21st century. This unique training tool is currently available in five different weight increments (8KG, 10KG, 12KG, 14KG, 16KG) for athletes both well-practiced in mace training and relatively new to it.

Each standardized, precision mace includes a seamless steel handle measuring 38-40" in length (based on size chosen) and 1.25" in diameter- Time-tested and well-vetted dimensions that will allow for sound and progressive swinging and lifting. The weighted end is solid cast-aluminum, and the handle features a contoured, unobtrusive end cap. Depending on the weight selected, the final overall length will stand between 44" , 48".

Dating back to the Hindu warriors of ancient times, the mace (aka “Gada”) has been long-recognized as a vicious and effective strength training tool. With the majority of the weight centered in the ball or head, lifting and/or swinging the mace challenges the entire body in ways that no other implement can. Attentive, progressive mace training helps develop a superior core, highly transferable rotational strength, and bulletproof shoulders. Recommended/ essential mace lifts and swings include front and back pendulum, shovel, dynamic curl, 360, 10-2, and more!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent mace. The WolfBrigade mace is by far better tool than other maces on the market. The lever length and weight ratio puts the weight in the bell where it belongs. Also the baseball style handle and raw metal patina that develops makes for a great bar feel. I’ll definitely be buying more of these as I progress.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Why would you buy any other mace? I ordered mine in March and have since gotten great use out of this implement. It's heavy at first and there is a bit of a learning curve, but like any other form of training and skill work if you stick with it, it will become second nature. I've seen improvement in shoulder strength and midline stability as well as better numbers in both OHP and Bench. These are handmade in Roshester, NY right down to the design, which I quite like. I know the trouble Greg Walsh and the Wolf Brigade Team have gone through to make sure that this is the best mace available so stick this on my headstone because it will outlive me in terms of quality. They've got excellent tutorials on their YouTube channel that are extremely thorough and helpful of those just starting out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this thing Unless you've swung a mace around before I would suggest getting the 8kg one and working your way up. There are some things I can do with the 14kg, but for me, a mace 360° is only doable with the 8 and 10kg. Had the chance to go to their Convergence 2018 last weekend and got 2 more, I now own 4 maces from them at 8, 10, 12 and 14kg. These people are top notch. If given the opportunity I suggest you go and train with them. If you can't go, buy one from here and check out their thorough videos on YouTube or their website.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I feel great about my purchase! I live in Florida, so I’m not part of the Wolf Brigade NY culture, but, unlike the review below mine, I appreciate the hand-scripted artistry (along with my initials) on my 10kg mace. Even more than that, I love the way that it feels in my hands, and I love knowing that it is handmade by one man who really cares about providing a product and incredibly useful tool to the people, because he believes in it! I take my mace with me pretty much everywhere. I’ve gotten a few 360s (ugly ones), and I will keep working on it. After working front and back pendulums for about half an hour or so for the first couple of days, my grip was shot and my abs were doing involuntary contractions (works core hard and in very unique ways! I have a 6-pack from intense training over several years, and it still shredded me). But the cool thing is that, though the weight is awkward, it’s not that heavy, so unlike heavy weights, it feels good to train with daily. I can feel my shoulders changing in a good way already (opening up while strengthening). I have very strong legs for my size, but more average in the arms. I plan on getting strong like an ape upstairs using this tool.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best f***ing mace ever balanced and crafted with care. If your not swinging a mace you should be. and it should be a Wolf Brigade mace.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unique tool -LONG review I had been having some minor nagging shoulder discomfort for a couple of months. I decided to take a chance and ordered the 8 kg mace as I had read they could be good for rehab. I had never seen a mace in person. I'm VERY glad I got the lightest one. I'm not a huge guy (6', 160 lbs), but I do lift regularly and am not totally weak (strict OHP 130 lbs, for reference). But 8 kgs concentrated on the end of a 40" long handle is a totally different leverage proposition than a barbell, dumbbell, etc. The mace 360 is one of the more advanced moves. I have to choke up almost HALFWAY up the handle to do it. It will be a long time before I'm able to do a 360 holding the end of the handle. But this is what is so cool about the mace. You can drastically change the difficulty of any maneuver simply by where you place your hands on the handle. So working with it is very dynamic and efficient. Instead of adding more plates or looking for a heavier dumbbell, you can just move your hands back and it gets instantly heavier. Also, compared to a barbell attached to a landmine, you have more options in terms of where you can put it (e.g., vertically overhead, behind your back, etc). There is really nothing else like it. In terms of its effects, it seriously jacks your forearms and grip. Also, your core. It is MUCH more core focused than I anticipated. I have had it for about 6 weeks, using it on off days between main workouts, and already I am noticing a better ability to stay tight on OHP, squats and deadlifts. I have to limit the amount of time I spend on it though as my forearms and elbows acclimate to the stress. This has been the limiting factor for me so far. As for the shoulder rehab thing, jury is still out-- it is definitely working the shoulders but I feel it much more in the core, forearms and upper back. But I almost don't care about the original reason I bought it because this tool has so many more uses which can't be replicated with something else. Manufacturing quality seems very high and the price is totally justifiable once you see it.
